Kiosk deployment for iPad

Put any web page on your iPads, full screen.

Type the address of your web app, form or presentation in the TRKS Kiosk app, and the iPad shows it full screen — locked, self-healing, ready for a whole event. Long address or many iPads? Create a 6-character kiosk code below.

Create a kiosk code

Optional. Handy for long addresses (parameters, query strings) and for setting up many iPads: six characters instead of a long URL. Codes only work in the TRKS Kiosk app — they never open in a browser.

Check a code

How it works

FAQ

What is TRKS for?

Deploying web content on iPads used as kiosks — at events, trade shows, exhibits, reception desks. Type the address in the TRKS Kiosk app and the content opens full screen, locked for visitors.

Do I need a code?

No. You can type any web address directly in the app. A code is useful when the address is long or complex (parameters, query string, tracking tags) or when you set up many iPads: typing six characters is faster and leaves no room for typos. New content? Create a new code and enter it on the iPads.

What happens when I type an address in the app?

Before anything is shown, TRKS Kiosk sends the address to trks.ca, which checks that it’s a valid web address and not on the blocklist, then counts it for monitoring. If trks.ca can’t be reached, the kiosk opens the page anyway: an outage on our side never stops your event.

Is TRKS a link shortener?

No. A kiosk code opens only in the TRKS Kiosk app. trks.ca/code doesn’t redirect anywhere in a browser, so TRKS can’t be used to disguise spam or phishing links. Don’t share codes with visitors: they’re a setup tool for your team.

Is the code secret? Who can see my content?

Treat the code like a password: anyone who has the app and the code can open the page it points to. Codes are random and guessing them is rate-limited, but TRKS doesn’t add a login to your content. If the page itself is confidential, protect it on your side (login, private network) — TRKS only helps display it.

What can I display?

Any web page reachable over HTTPS: a web app, a form, a survey, a slideshow, a video, a dashboard. Links to other apps (phone, email, App Store) are blocked so visitors stay in the kiosk.

How do I lock the iPad on the content?

Use iPadOS Guided Access: Settings › Accessibility › Guided Access, turn it on and set a passcode. Then, in TRKS Kiosk, triple-click the top (or Home) button and press Start. Visitors can no longer leave the app — the app shows these steps when content starts. On iPads supervised with Apple Configurator or an MDM, TRKS can even lock itself (Autonomous Single App Mode).

What happens if the Wi-Fi drops?

TRKS Kiosk retries on its own and reloads the page as soon as the network is back. With a code, it also remembers the address behind it, so an iPad that restarts while trks.ca is unreachable can still open the content. Crashed pages are reloaded automatically.

Can the kiosk reset between visitors?

Yes. In the app settings, choose “Back to start page after” (1 to 60 minutes of inactivity). You can also clear browsing data on each reset, so the next visitor finds an empty form and no open session.

What is Production Mode?

For unattended iPads: the app opens the content immediately at launch and hides all settings. To turn it off, open the iOS Settings app › TRKS.

How do I change the content on an iPad that is already running?

Outside Production Mode, open the operator menu: hold three fingers on the page for 5 seconds, or tap the corners within 6 seconds — top-right twice, bottom-left once, top-right twice. From there you can reload, enter another address or code, or open the settings. With Guided Access on, end it first.

What does “Launches” count?

How many times a kiosk opened the code. It helps check that your iPads are running. No personal data about your visitors is collected.

A page shows “Access blocked”

Every address a kiosk opens, typed directly or through a code, is checked against the TRKS blocklist, used to prevent abuse. The domain you tried is on it. If you think it’s a mistake, contact Apidom Studio.

How much does it cost?

TRKS is free. It’s made and maintained by Apidom Studio, a creative technology studio for events and brand experiences. Need a custom kiosk app, a fleet of iPads or content for your event? Get in touch.
